CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST... SO WHY ARE YOU STILL TRYING TO DIE?
Grace Uncensored 7 Day Devotional (Episode 55)
Welcome
Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
This devotional isn’t meant to give you seven more spiritual assignments or another list of things you need to do for God.
It’s an invitation to slow down and consider what Jesus has already done for you.
For many believers, the Christian life has been presented as a daily effort to destroy the old self, surrender enough, and somehow become more acceptable to God. But Scripture says something much better.
You have already been crucified with Christ.
The old you has gone.
You are a new creation, alive to God, and Christ now lives in you.
Over the next seven days, let these truths replace religious pressure with New Covenant freedom.
Day 1: Crucified With Christ
Scripture:
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
Galatians 2:20
Encouragement:
Paul didn’t say he was trying to crucify himself. He said it had already happened. Your death with Christ isn’t a spiritual goal you’re working toward. It’s part of your identity in Him.
Reflection:
Where have you been trying to accomplish something Jesus says is already finished?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I have been crucified with Christ and that His life now lives in me.
Day 2: The Old Self Was Crucified
Scripture:
“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.”
Romans 6:6
Encouragement:
Your old self isn’t something you’re supposed to keep killing. Paul says it was crucified with Christ. Sin may still tempt you, but it is no longer your identity or your master.
Reflection:
How would your daily choices change if you truly believed sin no longer defines you?
Prayer:
Jesus, help me live from the freedom of knowing my old self was crucified with You.
Day 3: The Old Has Gone
Scripture:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Encouragement:
God didn’t repair the old you. He made you new. Your past may explain some of your habits, but it no longer determines who you are.
Reflection:
Are you still introducing yourself by something God says has already passed away?
Prayer:
Father, teach me to see myself as the new creation You have made me to be.
Day 4: What Did Paul Mean by “I Die Daily”?
Scripture:
“And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? I face death every day.”
1 Corinthians 15:30–31
Encouragement:
Paul wasn’t describing a daily spiritual self-crucifixion ritual. He was talking about the danger and suffering he faced for preaching the gospel. He wasn’t trying to die spiritually again. He was risking his physical life because he believed in the resurrection.
Reflection:
Have you been carrying religious pressure because a verse was separated from its context?
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help me understand Scripture in context and rest in what Christ has already accomplished.
Day 5: Count It as True
Scripture:
“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 6:11
Encouragement:
Paul doesn’t tell you to make yourself dead to sin. He tells you to count it as true. You aren’t being asked to create a new spiritual reality. You’re being invited to believe the reality Jesus already created.
Reflection:
What would it look like today to see yourself as alive to God instead of defined by sin?
Prayer:
Father, help me believe that I am dead to sin and fully alive to You in Christ.
Day 6: Stop Carrying the Old Identity
Scripture:
“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
Colossians 3:3
Encouragement:
Your life is secure in Christ. You don’t need to carry your old identity around like a spiritual burden. Your failures don’t rename you, and your struggles don’t separate you from the life you now have in Him.
Reflection:
What old label have you continued to carry that Jesus never gave you?
Prayer:
Jesus, free me from every old label and help me rest in the life I have in You.
Day 7: Wake Up Alive
Scripture:
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is.”
Colossians 3:1
Encouragement:
The Christian life isn’t a daily attempt to die. It’s a daily opportunity to live from your union with Christ. You don’t wake up trying to crucify yourself again. You wake up knowing you have been raised with Him.
Reflection:
How might tomorrow morning feel different if you began by thanking God that you are alive in Christ?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I can wake up each day alive, accepted, and secure in Christ.
Closing
Over these seven days, you’ve seen that your death with Christ wasn’t partial, temporary, or something you need to repeat.
Your old self was crucified.
The old has gone.
You are a new creation.
You are dead to sin and alive to God.
Christ lives in you, and your life is hidden with Him.
You don’t need to spend your Christian life trying to die enough, surrender enough, or become acceptable enough.
Jesus has already brought the old life to an end and given you His life.
So stop trying to repeat the cross.
Believe what happened there.
Wake up tomorrow knowing that you don’t have to die again.
You get to live.

Another A+ teaching, my brother!
